Global Status of Open Ocean Sharks

OVERVIEW

Pelagic sharks describe a relatively small number of species found across entire ocean basins and include thresher, mako, oceanic whitetip, blue and great white sharks. Drawing upon previous assessments, this project convened international shark experts to review and draw conclusions about the global status of all pelagic sharks, developing a baseline of extinction risk for these species.
