On Thursday, April 28 we hosted a webinar featuring Dr. Steve Cadrin, University of Massachusetts, and Dr. Jason Link, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), to discuss their new project to investigate the feasibility of implementing portfolio approaches in U.S. fisheries. In this project, Drs. Cadrin and Link will lead a team of collaborators to test practical application of portfolio approaches in different fisheries on the East Coast to understand whether they can prevent overfishing, improve sustainability, and increase value of fisheries. In regions where it works, portfolio approaches could facilitate the transition toward ecosystem-based management approaches.
