Marine Recreational Fishing Catch by Sector

Recreational saltwater fishing is generally grouped into three sectors – private/rental boat, for-hire and shore-based. Understanding each sector’s contribution to recreational fisheries catch is essential for effective data collection and sustainable management. This study assesses the relative contribution of different recreational fishing sectors to the total recreational catch of overfished and depleted fish species in U.S. waters.
