Final Results: Advancing Ecosystem-Based Fisheries Management in the U.S. Caribbean
On March 27, 2025, Drs. Juan J. Cruz-Motta (University of Puerto Rico–Mayaguez), Stacey Williams (Institute for Socio-Ecological Research), and Tarsila Seara (University of New Haven) shared final results from their Lenfest-funded project supporting the development of a Fishery Ecosystem Plan (FEP) for the U.S. Caribbean. Working closely with the Caribbean Fishery Management Council and regional stakeholders, the team combined scientific data with local knowledge to build conceptual models that reflect the dynamic relationships between marine life, environmental conditions, and human activities. These models offer key guidance for advancing ecosystem-based fisheries management in the region.
