On Tuesday, April 23, 2019, Dr. Andrew Pershing of the Gulf of Maine Research Institute and his team gave a presentation introducing their project that will examine fishery allocation strategies as stocks shift due to climate change. The researchers will first conduct a review of how managers around the world have responded to the challenge of changing fish stock distributions. Working collaboratively with fishery managers and stakeholders, they then intend to develop guidance for informing allocation decision-making along the U.S. Northeast and Mid-Atlantic coasts. The project will continue through 2021.
