On Wednesday, September 26, 2018, Dr. Charles Greene, Dr. Kimberley Davies, and Dr. Erin Meyer-Gutbrod provided an overview of a new project to understand if North Atlantic right whales are moving north in response to climate-driven shifts in prey distribution. North Atlantic right whales have been declining for some years now, culminating in an unprecedented mortality event in Canada’s Gulf of St. Lawrence in 2017. This project aims to help officials in the U.S. and Canada better understand where right whales are moving to develop measures to reduce deaths and minimize economic impacts on the fishing and shipping industries.
