Project on Fur Seals Featured on NOAA Website

A project on northern fur seals supported by the Lenfest Ocean Program has been featured on the website of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), the federal agency responsible for recovery of this depleted marine mammal in Alaska.

Scientists have a wealth of data on this hardy species, yet they cannot explain its recent decline in the eastern Bering Sea. The NOAA story details how scientists are using mathematical models to combine all the data, with the goal of helping managers understand and possibly reverse the decline.
